World Creativity and Innovation Day | PRESS RELEASE

The World Creativity and Innovation Day 2024 celebration, hosted by His Excellency Rune Skinnebach, the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Malawi, in partnership with the Ntha Foundation, was a resounding success.

Held on April 19, 2024, at the European Union Residence, the event brought together stakeholders from various sectors to commemorate the annual occasion designated by the United Nations.

Highlights:

The event showcased the talents of Africa’s young entrepreneurs in the media, technology, and creative arts spaces, highlighting their role in spearheading Africa’s digital revolution for development.

Attendees were treated to artistic performances, a showcase of Malawian musical talent, innovative exhibitions, and a thought-provoking Bants2Business Panel discussion on “The Power of Collaboration for Creativity & Innovation.”

Keynote addresses were delivered by H.E. Ambassador Rune Skinnebach, Mr. Qabaniso Malewezi, Founder of Kweza Arts, and Ms. Nthanda Manduwi, Founder of the Ntha Foundation, inspiring guests with their insights and experiences.

The Bants2Business Panel discussion, moderated by Ms. Nthanda Manduwi, featured esteemed panelists including H.E. Ambassador Rune Skinnebach, Dr. Rachel Sibande, Ms. Wezi Salima, and Mr. Ian Khonje, who engaged in a dynamic dialogue on collaboration and innovation.

Organisational Background:

The Ntha Foundation, founded in 2018 by Nthanda Manduwi, is dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation for development through advocacy. Over the past 5 years, the foundation has partnered with leading organizations such as the World Bank, the European Union, and GIZ, mobilizing $377,000 to set up two technology hubs in Malawi and train over 1,000 youth in digital, creative, advocacy, and entrepreneurship skills.

Nthanda Manduwi, Founder of the Ntha Foundation, expressed her gratitude, stating,

“This celebration underscores the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving positive change. Together, we can empower youth to shape a brighter future for Malawi and beyond.”
