From beginning her journey with the Ntha Foundation as a university intern and product manager to earning a Master of Arts in International Development in South Korea, we are incredibly proud to celebrate Nomsa Faith Nungu and the journey she continues to build.
Nomsa Faith Nungu first joined the Ntha Foundation through the second cohort of our M’mawa Apprenticeship Programme, while completing her Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST). As part of the programme, she joined our team at the Kwathu Kollective and served as a Product Manager for Digital Skills for Afric [formerly Digi Savvy Africa], gaining practical experience alongside her university education.
At the time, Nomsa reflected on the importance of being given a space in which young people could learn, contribute and grow. She spoke particularly about the value of mentorship and being surrounded by people willing to share their knowledge and create opportunities for others.
Three years after we celebrated her graduation from MUST, we have another reason to celebrate.
Congratulations, Nomsa!
Nomsa has graduated from Yeungnam University in South Korea with a Master of Arts in International Development, receiving the Governor’s Award in Academic Excellence (Distinction).
Her time in South Korea has extended far beyond the classroom. Alongside completing her master’s research, Nomsa served as Social and Cultural Officer on the Students Council, undertook work with the university, and immersed herself in learning about South Korea’s development experience and its application to development challenges elsewhere in the world.
In 2025, she was also recognised by Yeungnam University with an Excellence Award at the Korean Speech Contest for Global Leaders, where she spoke about the Saemaul spirit of diligence, self-help and cooperation, and her ambition to contribute to stronger communities by building bridges between Korea and Malawi.
Watching the Journey Continue
For us at the Ntha Foundation, Nomsa’s achievement is particularly meaningful because we have had the privilege of watching different chapters of her journey unfold.
M’mawa Management Training was created around a simple conviction: that education becomes even more powerful when young people are given opportunities to apply what they know, develop professional confidence, receive mentorship and contribute meaningfully before they ever leave university.
Nomsa entered that programme as a student.
She went on to graduate from MUST, build experience across technology, programmes and development, and continue into postgraduate education internationally.
Today, we celebrate her as a master’s graduate.
And, knowing Nomsa, we suspect this is not the final graduation we will be celebrating.
Congratulations, Nomsa Faith Nungu.
From everyone at the Ntha Foundation and across the wider community that has watched your journey, we are immensely proud of you. We celebrate not only the qualification, but the curiosity, discipline and commitment to growth that have carried you from one chapter to the next.
May this achievement open the door to even bigger questions, greater opportunities and deeper impact.
Onwards.
