Technology is best when it brings people together

Our mission at Ntha Foundation is to promote innovation to advocate for social-economic transformation especially the youth. We were able to get in touch with Ngabaghila Chatata, who is the co-founder and Managing Director of Thanthwe Farms and a great example of someone who is doing excellent work at training youth in agriculture to be innovative by using technology to improve the food system.
Thanthwe Farm is an integrated farming business that produces and markets fresh produce and meat products using climate smart technologies.
“Covid pandemic and climate change pose a double threat to food systems: the farmers’ loss in productivity caused by climate change is worsening by market system disruption caused by Covid pandemic.”
Ngabaghila Chatata, co-founder and Managing Director of Thanthwe Farms
Ngabaghila Chatata is a former social scientist. And the reason she and her husband Dziko Chatata (who was a computer engineer) started the farming business, was to help Malawi stop importing fruit and vegetables for good. They have had great results in contributing a lot to empowering women and youth in the agricultural industry.
We were honored to have her child take the Ntha Foundation Digital Skills for Kids.
