Malawi City Meet UP | AFRILABS

Ntha Foundation was among the organizations that participated in the Malawi City Meetup event held at Mhub in Lilongwe. The event, hosted by Mzuzu EHub in partnership with AfrilLabs, brought together industry professionals, tech enthusiasts, and innovators to share knowledge, network, and explore the latest trends in technology and innovation.

Key Activities:

  1. Welcoming remarks by Wangiwe Joanna Kambuzi, M.D. Mzuzu E-Hub.
  2. Mayssa Mrabet, Director of Community at AfriLabs, shared valuable insights into AfriLabs and our upcoming Annual Gathering 2024.
  3. Keynote address by Vincent Kumwenda, Innovation Expert at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
  4. Panel discussion on “The State of Technology and Innovation in Malawi” featuring industry leaders Bram Fudzulani (Angel Dimension), Rhoda Kamwaza (Ntha Foundation), and Martin Masiya (Sollys Energy).
  5. Workshop on “Technology and Innovation in Malawi: Challenges and Opportunities,” facilitated by Takuya Kitazawa.

Panel Discussion Focus:

The panel discussion centered around pertinent questions regarding the current state of technology and innovation in Malawi, initiatives by government and non-governmental organizations to improve technology access in rural areas, technological infrastructure in Malawi, digital technologies shaping the economy, government support for private sector innovation, policies supporting tech and innovation, digital literacy programs, grassroots technology integration in education, efforts for digital inclusion, leveraging technology for societal and environmental challenges, international collaborations for tech advancement, and more.

Participants:

In addition to Ntha Foundation, various stakeholders attended the event, including government officials, representatives from UNDP, Save the Children, and representatives from various hubs in Malawi.

The Malawi City Meetup event provided a platform for robust discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities within the technology and innovation sector, fostering collaboration and exploring avenues for advancement in Malawi’s technological landscape.
