Mzuzu E-Hub Rebrands: INTRODUCING EMERGE LIVELIHOODS

On November 1, 2024, Emerge Livelihoods—formerly known as Mzuzu Entrepreneurship Hub—officially unveiled its new brand identity at a vibrant launch event at Urban Café in Lilongwe. Representing the Ntha Foundation at this landmark event was our Board Chair, Ms. Rhoda Kamwaza, who joined a diverse group of stakeholders, partners, and community leaders to celebrate this transformation. The rebranding signifies a powerful shift in Emerge Livelihoods’ mission to expand its impact across Malawi and foster socio-economic growth through self-reliance and empowerment.

The evening began with welcoming remarks, followed by a keynote speech from Board Chairperson Julius Ng’oma. Ng’oma highlighted that the rebranding aligns Emerge Livelihoods with Malawi’s Vision 2063, aiming to reshape mindsets toward embracing innovation and entrepreneurship. This rebrand showcases the organization’s commitment to inclusive growth and technological innovation, addressing the socio-economic challenges facing Malawi today.

The event spotlighted Emerge Livelihoods’ expanded initiatives, including:

  • Emerge Learn: Focused on education and skills training.
  • Emerge4Biz: Supporting sustainable entrepreneurship.
  • Emerge Fund: Providing financing solutions for entrepreneurs.
  • Emerge Hubs: Establishing spaces for technology and innovation.
  • She Emerge: Empowering women and girls.

Godfrey Mphande, Country Director for the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) in Malawi, spoke about WUSC’s continued role as a technical partner, committed to supporting Emerge Livelihoods’ growth through capacity-building and funding. Together, WUSC and Emerge Livelihoods aim to expand their reach and increase impact for communities across Malawi.

The highlight of the evening was a storytelling session led by Ms. Wangiwe Kambuzi, where she shared her vision for a future Malawi driven by youth empowerment and self-reliance. This was followed by the official launch of the Emerge Livelihoods Strategic Plan 2024-2028, which outlines the organization’s goals for the next five years, and the Emerge Fund, dedicated to financing and supporting emerging entrepreneurs, especially women and youth.

The event concluded with a lively networking session, where attendees connected, shared insights, and celebrated the new direction of Emerge Livelihoods. Through partnerships, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to Malawi’s development blueprint, Emerge Livelihoods is poised to become a key player in driving sustainable, community-led growth across Malawi.

As they move forward, Emerge Livelihoods will continue to inspire, uplift, and provide resources for individuals and communities, building a future where self-reliance and entrepreneurial spirit thrive. Congratulations to Ms. Wangiwe Kambuzi and her team for their dedication to making a lasting impact in Malawi and beyond.
