Education as a Means to End all Forms of Poverty: CELEBRATING SHARITY

On this World Charity Day, we at the Ntha Foundation take a moment to reflect on the power of “Sharity”—a word we hold dear, representing the deep sense of collective sharing that drives everything we do.

Every year on September 5th, the world comes together to celebrate the International Day of Charity. This day is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the importance of charity, philanthropy, and volunteerism. It highlights the vital role that charitable actions play in improving lives and addressing global challenges. The theme for World Charity Day every year is “to End All Forms of Poverty,” a goal that resonates deeply with the mission and work of the Ntha Foundation.

Our work at the Ntha Foundation is rooted in one fundamental belief: the greatest gift we can give is education.

Why education?

We believe in ‘giving’ education, because it is a tool that empowers individuals, communities, and societies to break cycles of poverty, create sustainable futures, and unlock potential. At the heart of our projects, we aim to bridge gaps, especially the Digital Divide and Digital Gender Divide in Africa, by giving underserved communities access to tools and skills that shape their futures.

Education doesn’t just change one life; it ripples across families and generations, creating lasting change. That is why we choose it as our greatest offering, and that is why we will continue to push forward in this mission, to not only uplift but also share knowledge, and together, build brighter futures.

Empowering Youth through Education and Skills Training

One of the core pillars of the Ntha Foundation is our commitment to education and skills training. Our flagship programs, such as the Nyenyezi Fellowship and the M’mawa Apprenticeship Programme, equip final-year university students and fresh graduates with the necessary skills to create and manage sustainable businesses. By transforming job seekers into job creators, we are directly addressing unemployment and poverty.

Through our Nyenyezi Fellowship and various partner programs under the Ntha Foundation, we have seen firsthand the impact of empowering individuals with knowledge and skills. When we share education, we aren’t just providing tools for today—we’re planting seeds for a better tomorrow.

Advocating for Socio-Economic Transformation

Through strategic communication and advocacy, the Ntha Foundation works to promote socio-economic transformation. We use creative and innovative approaches to raise awareness about critical issues, advocate for policy changes, and inspire action. Our efforts are aimed at creating a more equitable and prosperous society for all.

The Power of Volunteerism

Volunteerism is at the heart of the Ntha Foundation’s work. We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and we encourage individuals from all walks of life to get involved. Whether it’s through mentoring young entrepreneurs, providing skills training, or participating in community outreach programs, our volunteers play a crucial role in helping us achieve our mission.

The International Day of Charity is a reminder of the power of collective action and the difference we can make when we come together for a common cause. At the Ntha Foundation, we are committed to using creativity, innovation, and advocacy to drive socio-economic transformation and end poverty. Join us in celebrating this day and making a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
