Bants2Business: MALAWI WANGA EDITION RECAP

As the Ntha Foundation, we are filled with immense pride and joy as we reflect on the resounding success of the “Bants2Business Pitching Competition Finals 2024.” Held at the Mafumu Hotel in Lilongwe, this event marked a significant milestone in our journey to empower the tourism entrepreneurs of Malawi.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

A Celebration of Entrepreneurship

The evening of August 9th, 2024, was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the participants who have been part of the Kwathu Upgrade: Malawi Wanga edition. Our Managing Director, Rhoda Kamwaza, opened the event with heartfelt remarks that set the tone for an evening of inspiration. Virgil Kwizera and Elizabeth Bailie further enriched the opening segment with their perspectives, representing the participants and the GIZ-MIERA TOURISM component, respectively.

Insightful Discussions and Pitches

The panel discussion, expertly moderated by Alex Kachepa, delved into the critical role of digital tools in tourism management. Panelists Ian D’heygere, Emma Chitanda, and Chikondi Mbewe shared valuable insights, drawing from their extensive experience in the industry.

The pitch session was the highlight of the evening, where entrepreneurs from Salima and Zomba presented their innovative ideas. The passion and potential displayed by Virgil Kwizera, Noah Chana, Fiona Saka, and Tupochere were nothing short of remarkable.

Acknowledging Excellence

Our esteemed judges, Tamanda Kaleke, Elijah Lumbani Mkandawire, and Emma Katengeza, had the challenging task of evaluating the pitches. Their decisions culminated in the awarding of the prizes, with Noah Chana taking home the top prize of €800 for his Gwirize Cultural Village. Fiona Saka’s Fimac Catering Services won her €500, while Virgil Kwizera and Tupochere were awarded €300 and €200, respectively, for their compelling presentations.

A Night to Remember

The event concluded with a networking session, where attendees mingled and celebrated the achievements of the night. Group photos captured the joy and camaraderie of the occasion, serving as a reminder of the collective effort to drive forward Malawi’s tourism sector.
