Green Procurement: A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR MALAWI

In an effort to promote sustainable development, YVESPRO, in collaboration with Ntha Foundation, is hosting a two-day green procurement workshop. This event, scheduled for July 11 to 12, 2024, at the Kwathu Kowork Hub, aims to bring together 50 attendees from both the public and private sectors.

Green Procurement

Green procurement, also known as sustainable procurement, is the process of purchasing goods and services that have a minimal negative impact on the environment throughout their entire lifecycle. This approach to procurement considers the environmental, social, and economic impacts of products and services, aiming to reduce harm to the environment and promote sustainable development.

Workshop Overview

The Green Procurement Workshop aims to enhance the understanding and implementation of sustainable procurement practices among key stakeholders in Malawi. Green procurement refers to the acquisition of products and services that have a reduced environmental impact throughout their lifecycle. This includes considerations for energy efficiency, recyclability, resource conservation, and overall environmental sustainability.

Workshop Details

The two-day workshop will include the following activities:

Dates: July 11th – July 12th , 2024

Time: 10:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs (CAT)

Duration: 2 days

Location: Hybrid (at the Kwathu Kowork Hub in Area 46/111 Lavender Court, Lilongwe, Malawi, and Virtual sessions via Microsoft Teams)

  • To provide a comprehensive understanding of green procurement principles and practices.
  • To highlight the importance of sustainable procurement in mitigating environmental impacts.
  • To equip procurement professionals with the necessary tools and knowledge to implement green procurement strategies within their organizations.
  • To foster collaboration and networking among public and private sector stakeholders.
